news door of hopeThere is no doubt that South Africa’s youth form a cornerstone to the viability of the country’s future. As a result, it is up to both the government and the private sector to ensure that we are constantly supporting the development of young South Africans. This Youth Month, 1Life brings into context the 3 500 children being abandoned in South Africa each year.

“As part of the company’s commitment to changing the lives of South Africa’s youth, 1Life handed over R10 000 to the Door of Hope in Glenvista yesterday. This charity rescues abandoned, abused and orphaned babies and helps them find permanent homes,” says Richard Rupping, General Manager: Head of Marketing, at 1Life.

The donation was a result of a recent 1Life Changers campaign that was run on the company’s digital platforms, which encouraged consumers to share their charitable tips on how to help their fellow South Africans – with the best tip winning R10 000. This was then further supported by 1Life donating R10 000 to Door of Hope, to support these children and their basic every day needs. The money donated will go a long way in further advancing the work that is being done at Door of Hope.

For 1Life, this wasn’t just about giving money away. It was also a way to create a platform, where the incredible work being done at Door of Hope could really shine. Working with communities now to make a real impact in the future, means a better South Africa for all. Anyone can change a life, no matter how great or small the contribution. Let’s challenge each other to be that change that someone is looking for.

“Addressing issues of homelessness, impoverishment and lack of access to basic human rights, should be a top priority for all. The supportive development of South Africa’s underprivileged is key to this, is and we believe that through this donation, we are forming part of the change that is so desperately needed,” concludes Rupping.
