This page will explain the insurance claims submission process for 1Life policyholders and their beneficiaries. When you make a claim you will be assigned a dedicated claims consultant to guide you through the process and help with any queries you might have.  

Life cover policyholders, why not download and print the Beneficiary Instruction Sheet? It explains your policy, the claims process and waiting periods in some detail. File it with your will or policy document and help your loved ones claim quickly and easily.

Your documents

The documents you will be required to submit could include:

  • A completed claim form
  • A certified copy of the death certificate of the deceased (for a life insurance or funeral cover claim)
  • A certified copy of the deceased’s and the beneficiaries’ ID books (for a life insurance claim)
  • Medical reports, depending on the nature of the claim

Your consultant may ask you to provide 1Life with additional documents to assess the claim properly.

Assessment findings

All claims will be processed efficiently and quickly.

  • Funeral cover claims will be paid out in 24 business hours if all the correct documentation is submitted.
  • Life insurance pay-outs may take longer, depending on the nature of the claim, but we will attempt to process the Pay now death benefit within 24 business hours.
