When we launched 1Life in 2006 we wanted to make insurance affordable, convenient and simple for South Africans. Less jargon, less paperwork, and quicker claims!

We were the first life insurer in the country to sell life insurance direct to the public online and launch a USSD policy management service! We were also the first to introduce HIV tests using saliva - no more needles!

This year, we launched online buy, where you can buy funeral cover and comprehensive, fully underwritten life cover online in 15 minutes or less! And at a discounted premium! 

All of which makes it easy and convenient to get the cover you need at a price you can afford.

We’ve added to and improved our services to make doing business with us and managing your policy quicker and easier. Our online policyholder service portal and WhatsApp service are the go to places when you want to view and update policy details. On these channels you can update your:

You want claims paid quickly. So do we! We pay valid claims as quickly as possible, and thanks to our automated claims processing, 75% of qualifying 1Life funeral claims are paid within 24 hours, some as quickly as within 3 minutes!
